Mark Ramprakash, the former England batsman has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The 42-year-old Ramprakash had played his last first-class game in June 2012 for Surrey against Sussex in the LV County Championship. Ramprakash had taken the decision to retire once he knew that Surrey no more had any plans of including him in their team for the County Championship.

Ramprakash, who has also played for Middlesex, is a prolific run getter in domestic cricket. The 42-year-old ends his career with as many as 114 centuries in First Class matches with a high average of 53.14. Over the years, Ramprakash had accumulated more than 35,000 runs in first class matches!

Mark RamprakashDespite being a run machine in English County, at the International level, Mark Ramprakash was a huge disappointment just like Graeme Hick. Ramprakash played 52 Tests and 18 ODIs for England between 1991 and 2002.

Ramps as he is fondly called had scored 2 100s and 12 50s in 52 Tests at a poor average of 27.32. His highest score is 154 which was against West Indies in 1998. His only other Test century came against the Aussies in 2001. Ramprakash’s ODI career is hardly anything to write about with just the one fifty in his record.
