Sachin Tendulkar (Recently retired): Having made his debut in 1989, Tendulkar went on to play exactly 200 Tests and has amassed 15921 runs at an average of 53.78 with 51 hundreds and 68 fifties, the last of his half-centuries came in his very last Test innings – 74 against West Indies at his home ground, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. His highest Test score was 248 not out against Bangladesh.

Ricky Ponting (Retired): Punter made his debut in 1995 and played 168 Tests before retiring in 2012. He scored 13378 runs averaging 51.85 with 41 tons and 62 fifties. Ponting’s highest score was 257 versus India.

Rahul Dravid (Retired): The Indian legend debuted in 1996 and went on to feature in 164 Tests before retiring last year. During his career, he compiled 13288 runs averaging 52.31 with 36 hundreds and 63 fifties. His top score was 270 versus Pakistan.

Jacques Kallis (Active player): The South African all-rounder made his debut in 1995 and has since played 165 Tests, scoring 13140 runs at an average of 55.21 with 44 hundreds and 58 fifties. Kallis’ highest score is 224 against Sri Lanka.

Brian Lara (Retired): The flamboyant West Indian made his debut in 1991 and featured in 131 Tests, notching up 11953 runs at an average of 52.88 with 34 hundreds and 48 fifties. Lara’s highest score was that unbelievable 400 not out against the Englishmen.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (Active player): The hard toiler of West Indian cricket, the left-hander made his debut in 1994 and has so far played 153 Tests, scoring 1119 runs at an average of 52.08 with 29 hundreds and 62 fifties. His highest is 203 not out against Bangladesh.

Allan Border (Retired): The first player to breach the 11000-run mark, Border played 156 Tests for Australia from 1978-1994, scoring 11174 runs at average of 50.56 with 27 hundreds and 63 half-centuries. Border’s highest score was 205 against New Zealand.

Steve Waugh (Retired): Another tough Aussie, Tugga featured in 168 Tests for his country from 1985-2004, and scored 10927 runs at an average of 51.06 with 32 tons and 50 fifties. Waugh’s highest was that magnificent 200 against West Indies.

Mahela Jayawardene (Active player): The former Sri Lankan skipper debuted in 1997, and has so far featured in 138 Tests in which he has notched up 10806 runs averaging 49.56 with 31 hundreds and 45 fifties. Jayawardene’s highest remains that sublime 374 against South Africa.

Kumar Sangakkara (Active player): This elegant Lankan debuted in 2000 and has so far played 117 Tests, scoring 10486 runs at an average of 56.98 with 33 tons and 42 fifties. His highest score is that brilliant 287 against the South Africans.
